Experience Pride Fort Lauderdale Festival

The annual event and tribute to the LGBT community features world-renowned entertainers, local and national exhibitors, and a food court. The festival also includes a family area with arts and crafts, sports and the “History of Pride” educational section. Join in the celebration on Feb. 11 at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park South. Test Your Skills at Mods

Head to the Museum of Discovery and Science to test family teamwork skills and explore new brain-based technologies, including drones, underwater robotics, animatronics and autonomous vehicles. Participate in challenges, such as using everyday materials to build a roller coaster and creating a paper table to support books. The “IKEA Design Nation and FAU Self-Driven Team Weekend” takes place from Feb. 17 to 19 from noon to 4 p.m. (free with museum admission; mods.org)

The Fabric of Their Lives

In honor of Black History Month, Art Gallery 21 presents “The Quilts of Gee’s Bend: The Fabric of Their Lives.” The Gee’s Bend Quilter’s Collective creates quilts that symbolize individuality and a multi-generational approach to African-American arts and culture. Head to the gallery to see original quilts from the collection of Janet Dolland, advocate of the collective, from Feb. 3 to March 10. (free; artgallery21.org)
